Riding Bareback in a Halter

Beau has had a really good week! Have been able to consistently mount him from the block with little worry. Once on him he holds his breath just a little so I'll sit there, ask him to bend laterally several times each way and spend a few minutes just standing with him. He will then relax down, breathe and then he's ready to move on with the ride. With any horse I would take the time to sit on them for a few minutes before riding off to prevent a horse from walking off as you swing a leg over. With Beau it will prevent that habit from forming but will also allow him a moment to relax so that when you do move off he is more relaxed and prepared for a good ride. Taking the time in each phase from standing on the block, to mounting, then to riding- to allow Beau to really relax has been crucial as most of his anxiety and nervousness has stemmed from anticipating previous experiences. Now we want him to anticipate the easy going nature of each step being nice and relaxed :)

Wrapped the week up with a bareback ride in the halter which was super neat! Maredith caught some of it on video so yall could see. He is looking a feeling the best he has since being here. Cant wait for yall to be able to enjoy him!
